Padawan is a barn owl with absolutely no fear responses. He is incapable of fear and for that reason he is a permanent resident at the center. He would more than likely try and attack things which would cause him more harm than good due to his lack of fear(Bears,Cars,trains, etc). He suffered a brain injury rendering his Amygdala not as functional as it should be. For that reason he is an educational bird, teaching future generations about birds of prey.

The Raptor center is a bird of prey sanctuary in Eugene, Oregon. It is a nonprofit, volunteer run operation to preserve and protect birds of prey who by one means or another are incapable of surviving in the wild. Some have become too 'friendly' with humans and although they mean no harm, people find them to be too much of a hazard and threaten their survival. Others have suffered an injury of one kind or another and are no longer able to hunt effectively. Some however are merely wounded and with healing time they are able to be released back into the wild.Some however, do not have that luxury and become educational birds and permanent residents of the center.

Raptors are: Owls,Falcons,Hawks,Eagles,Kites,Harriers and many others. They hunt by their sharp talons using their beaks to tear the flesh from their prey. They are fascinating creatures.
